Editorial Standards

Inside China AI exists to give European readers an accurate, unexcited picture of China’s AI ecosystem. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.

Sourcing

Every factual claim is based on identifiable sources — company announcements, regulatory filings, research reports, or established media. We attribute numbers to their origin („per LexisNexis“, „according to SAG“) so readers can judge them. Where facts cannot be verified, we say so or leave them out.

Independence

Inside China AI is independently owned and editorially independent. Sponsored content, when it appears, is always clearly labeled, held to the same analytical standards, and never the majority of our coverage. No company — Chinese or Western — reviews or approves our editorial articles before publication.

AI-assisted, human-verified

We use AI tools for research, monitoring and drafting — the same technology we report on. Every published piece is edited, fact-checked and signed off by a human editor who takes personal responsibility for it. We believe transparency about our methods matters more than pretending they don’t exist.

AI-generated illustrations

Most images on this site are AI-generated illustrations. Each one is marked as such directly beneath the image, in the language of the article. We use them to illustrate themes — never to depict real events, real places or identifiable people, and never as a substitute for documentary photography. Photographs taken by us carry no such marking, and neither do our data charts, infographics or licensed stock images — those are not AI-generated. A small number of decorative background images on the home and about pages are AI-generated; they carry no individual marking because they illustrate nothing and depict nothing. Where an image would be capable of being mistaken for a record of something that actually happened, we do not publish it. This follows Article 50 of the EU AI Act, which has applied since 2 August 2026, and the established journalistic practice of labelling symbolic imagery.

When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and visibly. Corrections are noted in the article. Spotted an error? Write to press@insidechinaai.com — we typically respond within 24 hours.

Perspective, not neutrality theatre

Our perspective is European and our standard is fairness. We contextualize rather than dramatize: no hype, no panic. Where our analysis includes judgment, we mark it as such.
